Help a Family Keep Their Children in School
Notice: Test mode is enabled. While in test mode no live donations are processed.
We know that a child’s education is closely connected to the circumstances of the family behind them.
Many of the families we serve are low-income households. Some children are raised by a single parent, while others have lost one or both parents. In many homes, parents and guardians work hard to provide for their children but still struggle to meet the financial demands that come with education and daily life.
When a family is unable to meet these needs, a child can be affected in ways that go far beyond the classroom.
Supporting a family means helping remove some of the barriers that can stand between a child and their education.
What Does Supporting a Family Mean?
A family does not always need one large intervention. Sometimes, meaningful support comes from helping with one immediate need that makes it possible for a child to continue learning.
Your contribution to this campaign can help Gracious Steps respond to education-related challenges faced by families in our school community.
This may include support towards:
School Fees
For families struggling financially, school fees can become a barrier to consistent attendance. Contributions can help reduce the burden on parents and guardians and help children remain connected to their education.
Nutritious Meals
The school provides breakfast and lunch to pupils. Supporting families through the school feeding programme can help ensure that children have access to meals while they are at school and are better able to concentrate on learning.
The 2026/2027 fee structure lists breakfast and lunch at KES 10,800 per pupil per year.
Learning Resources
Families facing financial hardship may also struggle with the additional costs associated with learning. Support can contribute towards the educational resources and materials needed to help children participate effectively in school.
Keeping Education Within Reach
Sometimes, the greatest support is simply helping a family get through a difficult period without their child’s education being interrupted.
A contribution may help reduce the financial pressure surrounding a learner’s education and give the family more room to focus on their child’s wellbeing and future.
Why Family Support Matters
When we support a child, we are also acknowledging the family and circumstances that surround that child.
A parent or guardian may be doing everything possible to provide for their children while facing limited financial resources. A single parent may be carrying the responsibility of an entire household. A child who has lost a parent may require additional care and support.
At Gracious Steps, we believe these circumstances should not determine whether a child gets the opportunity to learn.
Family support is about creating a little more stability around a child so that education can remain possible.
It is about helping families continue to say:
“My child can stay in school.”
